Primarily, a bi-fuel conversion lets a company with high electricity consumption take advantage of the piped supply of Nigerian Natural Gas providing both delivery convenience and lowered costs. The cost-savings of a bi-fuel versus diesel-only operation are noticeably significant recovering the costs of the generator conversion within a year.
To date, UTAS has performed 48 bi-fuel generator conversions on both slow and high speed generators running on Skoda, Cummins, Caterpillar, Perkins and Ruston engines ranging from 250 - 2270 Kva. The gas/diesel consumption ratios one can achieve are 90/10 for slow-speed generators and 60/40 for high-speed equivalents. |
